Custom software

Software built around your business.

Custom software development for Kenyan businesses - web applications, portals, internal tools and M-Pesa integrations built around how you actually work. And when off-the-shelf is the smarter buy, we tell you that too, before you spend a shilling.

Build or buy

When does custom software beat off-the-shelf?

Not always - and a consultancy that says otherwise is selling, not advising. Here is how we call it. If you are unsure which side your business falls on, start with an AI Business Assessment and get the answer before spending anything.

Custom wins when

Your process is your edge

If the way you serve customers, price work or manage stock is what sets you apart, forcing it into generic software flattens that edge. Custom software bends to your process, not the other way round.

Off-the-shelf tools almost fit

You are paying for three tools, using half of each, and bridging the gaps with spreadsheets and WhatsApp messages. At that point one system built for you is often cheaper than the workarounds.

You need Kenyan integrations

M-Pesa payments, KRA workflows, local delivery partners, county-specific requirements. Global products rarely handle these well. We build them in properly, not as an afterthought.

Off-the-shelf wins when - and we tell clients this

A standard problem with a mature tool

Accounting, email, payroll for a standard team - excellent off-the-shelf products already exist at a fraction of what a custom build costs. We will tell you to buy, not build. It happens often.

You are still discovering your process

If the business is young and the way you work changes every month, custom software would be rebuilt constantly. Start with cheap standard tools, learn what you actually need, then build.

The work

What we build.

When several of these belong together - say a portal, payments and a dashboard - we combine them into one business system. When the goal is removing repetitive work, that is our AI automation service.

Web applications

Systems your team and customers use in a browser - fast on Kenyan networks, no installs, always current.

Customer and client portals

Clients log in to see orders, statements, documents and progress - instead of calling your office to ask.

Internal tools

The approval flow, the field-team tracker, the quoting tool - software for the work only your business does.

Dashboards

Your key numbers pulled from where they live and shown live, so decisions stop waiting for month-end.

Integrations, including M-Pesa Daraja

We connect the systems you already run - M-Pesa via Daraja, accounting tools, SMS gateways - so data moves without retyping.

Mobile-friendly systems

Everything we build works properly on the phone in your staff’s pocket, because that is where Kenyan business happens.

How we engineer

Our engineering standards.

Security by default

Server-side validation, rate limiting, security headers and HTTPS on everything we ship. Secrets live in environment variables, never in code. Boring, disciplined engineering - which is exactly what you want.

No card data handled directly

Payments go through M-Pesa Daraja, Pesapal or Stripe. Card numbers never touch our code or your servers, which means their risk never becomes your risk.

Kenya DPA 2019 compliance

Anything touching personal data is built to comply with the Data Protection Act 2019 - consent, minimal collection, secure storage. Compliance is designed in, not patched on after a complaint.

You own the code

The code, the data and the accounts are yours, in writing. If we ever part ways, any competent developer can pick up where we left off. No hostage situations.

Common questions

Plain answers.

Still have a question? Send it to us - we reply fast.

How much does custom software cost in Kenya?
Custom software pricing depends entirely on the scope and complexity of what you are building, so a serious quote requires understanding the work first - everything is scoped after a free consultation. What we promise: the quote is written, itemised, and given before you commit.
How long does a custom build take?
A focused internal tool or portal is typically live in weeks. Larger systems roll out in stages over one to three months, with the most valuable piece delivered first so you see working software early. The timeline is agreed in writing before we start.
What happens after launch - are we on our own?
No. Every build includes a support period, staff training and plain-language documentation. After that you choose: an ongoing support arrangement with us, or full handover to your own team. Because you own the code, both options are real.
Will you tell us if we should NOT build custom software?
Yes, and we regularly do. If a mature off-the-shelf tool solves your problem for less, we say so and point you to it - see the honest cases above. Advising you to buy instead of build costs us a project and earns us a client who trusts the next recommendation.
